Anti-FGM bill being blocked by MP Chope ‘appalling’

A Conservative MP’s determination to dam a bill defending ladies from feminine genital mutilation was “appalling” and he should change his thoughts, Treasury minister Liz Truss has mentioned.

Sir Christopher Chope provoked outrage after shouting “object” throughout a debate on anti-FGM laws final week.

Communities Secretary James Brokenshire mentioned the federal government is “looking urgently” at tips on how to get the regulation handed.

Appearing on the BBC’s Andrew Marr Show, Mr Brokenshire mentioned Sir Christopher’s personal Conservative affiliation was investigating, including: “I think that’s the best place for this to be dealt with.”

Meanwhile, requested by the BBC’s Andrew Marr whether or not he was proud to be Sir Christopher’s colleague, Mr Brokenshire mentioned: “I’m simply massively disillusioned.
