Liverpool fell silent for a minute to mark the 30th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.
Ninety-six lanterns have been lit on the steps of St George’s Hall in tribute to those that died.
Banners with photographs of every of the followers killed by the FA Cup sport crush have been additionally hung on the corridor.
A minute’s silence was held throughout town at 15:06 – the time the 1989 semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest was stopped.
The bells of the Town Hall tolled 96 occasions following the silence, whereas flags on civic buildings have been flown at half mast as individuals gathered at areas throughout Liverpool to mark the anniversary.
Traffic going by the tunnels below the Mersey was stopped for one minute and the Mersey Ferries marked the anniversary by sounding their horns.

Speaking outdoors St George’s Hall, Louise Brookes, whose brother Andrew died within the disaster, mentioned: “Andrew has been useless now 4 years longer than he was alive.
“He was solely 26 when he died and he had his entire future and entire life forward of him. I actually wrestle with that.”
Mr Anderson mentioned the anniversary was an “emotional day” and a “milestone”.
On Monday morning Liverpool FC supervisor Jurgen Klopp and captain Jordan Henderson laid a floral tribute and the primary workforce, academy and girls’s squads paid their respects by visiting the memorial.
Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, whose cousin, Jon-Paul Gilhooley, 10, was the youngest sufferer of the tragedy, was amongst these to pay tribute on social media.
He posted an image of the Hillsborough memorial on Instagram with the caption “Never forgotten”.
A memorial service was held at Liverpool Cathedral and The Kop has been opened for individuals who wish to sit and mirror.
